Our Workforce Development (WFD) department provides hundreds of short-term training programs in a wide range of topics. You don't need to complete the college application process to take a WFD class. Simply click on one you're interested in to find out more class information and register directly from there!

Scholarships and funding opportunities are available to most students. Public Safety students (fire, EMS, paramedic, law enforcement) may be eligible for 100% fee waivers after registering for classes. Topics include drug packaging and labeling, out-patient dispensing, hospital dispensing procedures, controlled substance procedures, inventory control, and non-sterile compounding. Upon completion, students should be able to perform basic supervised dispensing techniques in a variety of pharmacy settings. Each student enrolled in this section is expected to attend all the meeting times and location listed below. This 5-day/45-hour course is designed for law enforcement officers involved in the tracking and monitoring of suspects through urban, suburban, or rural conditions for the purpose of documenting activities and potentially interdicting upon these actions. This training will provide narcotics and criminal investigators the knowledge of proper planning methods and techniques for conducting a successful foot, vehicle and stationary surveillance operation in an urban setting. Participants will receive instruction on: Operational Planning, Concealment Techniques, Prior Intelligence of Target Assessment, Safety Issues, Infiltration and Exfiltration Techniques, Equipment Needs, Personnel and Surveillance Strategies. This is a hands-on training exercise conducted under arduous conditions. Participants should possess a working knowledge of video equipment and be prepared to use it during training. This course is 90% field work. You will need a covert or unmarked vehicle and one video camera for every three (3) people. Please do not intend on using marked vehicles in this class. Course fee is waived for sworn/affiliated NC Law Enforcement Officers.

In this class, you will create mixed media art using various found-objects and common household items using a gel printing plate. You will build confidence in your artistic ability while having fun as you learn to use different papers and techniques resulting in several finished collage projects. Your completed art project will be ready for framing! Students are required to bring the following items to class: Matte Mod Podge or Liquitex Basics Acrylic Matte Fluid Medium, container or package of wet wipes, various household items for mark-making , a hard surface to adhere collage project such as a wood panel, heavy cardboard, multimedia paper in a sketchpad, or stretched canvas, various sizes of brushes, various flat papers, Royal & Langnickel Acrylic Paint tubes from Walmart (your color of choice) or Apple barrel Acrylic Craft Paint set (your color of choice). All other supplies are provided by instructor.
