Scholarships and funding opportunities are available to most students. Public Safety students (fire, EMS, paramedic, law enforcement) may be eligible for 100% fee waivers after registering for classes. This course is designed to provide the student with hands-on knowledge of engine rebuilding techniques to manufacturer’s specifications. The student will learn how to completely disassemble engines and check for manufacturer’s specifications and reassemble. Emphasis will be placed on the proper use of special tools and testing equipment. Upon completion students will be able to explain operating principles of engines, name major parts of engines, work safely in the shop, explain how force work and torque are related to horsepower, define horsepower, list and explain combustion chamber designs, properly run rack, time injectors, adjust values, and adjust governors.

For many in the policing profession, Community Policing has become just another buzz word or catchy phrase highlighted on your department’s website. Effective Community Policing is not about having more community cookouts and holding more mundane community meetings. Community Policing is an organizational crime reduction philosophy focused on Customer-Centric-Policing strategies to reduce crime and to enhance customer engagement and accountability in the problem-solving process. This course is designed to: .Provide evidence-based policing strategies to effectively identify and reduce violent crime .Transition away from a number driven and stat focused organization to measuring what matters .Stop chasing calls for service .Proved a clear and defined pathway to move your organization from reactive policing to a strategic focus on proactive, preventive, and predictive model of policing .Build better customer engagement and customer accountability in your problem-solving process .Identify barriers within a police organization that can impact trust, effective communication, productivity, and motivation between police and their customers .Sustainable strategies to improve police-customer relationships. During this 660-clock hour course, students obtain a strong foundation in Swedish massage and therapeutic deep tissue work. In addition to the hands-on applications, students are taught basic anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, pathology, somatic psychology, assessment skills, business management, and ethics. This course includes a clinical component where students will gain experience working directly with clients. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to take the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx). After a passing score on the MBLEx, students will be able to apply for licensure with the North Carolina Board of Massage & Bodywork Therapy and begin their professional career as a Licensed Massage & Bodywork Therapist (LMBT).
