»Æ¹ÏÊÓÆµ Early College (CEC) student Tiana Miller recently received a second place scholarship of $2,500 at the 2019 National Youth Speak Competition. Another CEC student, Liberty Munchel, received the Most Inspirational Award.

CEO of Speak America and Founder of the  Bart Queen announced scholarship recipients May 17, 2019. Competitors came from local and national high school and early college schools to compete demonstrating exceptional communications skills with delivery, content, and creativity while presenting on a local or civic topic.

Earlier in the school year, each of the student competitors completed 30 hours of strategic communications training with Queen to become a semi-finalist in the competition. Five judges were selected based on their work and life merits associated with mentoring and coaching young adults and students.

First Place $5,000 Scholarship Winner – Angel Uy, Lee Early College, Sanford, NC

Second Place $2,500 Scholarship Winner – Tiana Miller, »Æ¹ÏÊÓÆµ Early College, New Bern, NC

Third Place $1,000 Scholarship Winner – Suzy Brito, Lee Early College, Sanford, NC

Additional Award Winners:

Most Compelling Award – Carlota Placido, Santa Maria High School, Santa Maria, CA

Most Inspirational Award – Liberty Munchel, »Æ¹ÏÊÓÆµ Early College, New Bern, NC

Gideon Award for Most Courage – Luis Zaragoza Garcia, Santa Maria High School, Santa Maria, CA
