Are you ready to turn your passion for animals into a professional career? This comprehensive program is designed to give you the entry-level skills needed to succeed in private practices, shelters, and specialty clinics. Throughout the course, you will gain hands-on knowledge in:

  • Veterinary terminology and anatomy
  • Animal behavior and communication
  • Grooming techniques and proper handling
  • Obtaining and processing clinical specimens
  • Emergency care procedures

We offer flexible scheduling for daytime internships (Monday-Saturday) as facilities become available.

Program Requirements

  • High School graduation/GED Completion. Submit copy to instructor
  • Ability to lift greater than 20 lbs and stand for an extended period of time
  • Professional scrubs. Scrub top is student's choice and animal prints are allowed
  • Foot wear. Instructor will provide details regarding approved foot wear
  • Current Tetanus vaccination with documentation due to instructor at the first class session
  • Hepatitis B series started
    • Shot 1 administered
    • Shot 2 administered 30 days later
    • Shot 3 administered 5 months later
  • Background check (CBC) will be required. This must be completed no later than one week prior to class start date. Background check results are submitted to the college electronically from Castle Branch
  • Textbook Information: Elsevier's Veterinary Assisting Textbook, 4th Edition (ISBN-13 978-0443117138)
